An Unbelievable Night

Three years ago, the boys and I had the same spring break which is unbelievable. When Hubby realized we all had the same spring break, he decided it was a perfect time to go on a family vacation. Where did he decide to take us? How about Niagara Falls during the last week of March.

Once he made that decision, he started planning. During his planning, he found out that Steven Tyler was going to be performing at the casino across the street from where we were going to be staying. However, the tickets were already sold out. We were not hopeless though. When there is a will, there is a way.

When we got to the hotel, we spoke to the concierge about possible tours and the Steven Tyler tickets. He told us that they hold back tickets for high rollers. If they don’t claim the tickets by a certain time, they will have the tickets for sale. All we would need to do is put our name on a list on the day of the concert. Sweet!

On Thursday, March 31st, Hubby walked across the street to the casino to put out name down on the list. I came back to the hotel to lay down before we made plans for the evening. Suddenly the phone rang, they told me I had 15 minutes to get over to the box office to buy the tickets. I ran out of the room, onto the elevator, and then ran through the casino. (Oh, and one of the guys in the elevator worked at the music label where Steven Tyler had recorded with Aerosmith.) I bought one ticket because the boys were not old enough to be left alone in the hotel room without supervision.

Then I ran back to the room, got dressed with my Aerosmith shirt, and then ran back to the casino. While I was waiting, I was told that Steven liked when the people who are in the seats moved up to the front of the stage. I passed that information onto the lady who was going to be sitting next to me. While we were sitting waiting for our chance to move up to the stage, two ladies tried to get us to move so they could get up to the stage faster. We did not move at all.

When the music started playing, I moved my 40 year butt up to the stage. I ended up right in front of the area where he was singing. I was one person away from the stage. At one point in the concert, he had the microphone over my head. I got to touch one of his scarves. During the next hour and a half, I was no longer a 40 year old mother of two who was a teacher. I was my free self who was taken on a musical journey.

At the end of the show, he took a rose and bit off the petals. Then he spit them into the audience. I had one of those petals for the longest time until it fell apart. (Sadness.)

The next day we left and went to the Toronto Zoo. The boys kept telling me that I thought Steven Tyler’s butt was on fleek.

I bet you want to see photos from this amazing night. Okay, I’ll share them with you.

This week’s writing prompt was to choose a photo from February and write a blog post. I chose photos from March instead.

Stay kind!

Have a magical day,
Traci

    1. It was only him with a different band. He was promoting his new album that was going to be out that summer. I’ve also seen Aerosmith in concert twice.

    1. He did not mind. At one point, the boys and him ended up near where the concert was being held. My youngest tried to come into the concert. That part of the casino was 21 years old or older so he couldn’t attempt to crash the concert.

  1. Wow, what a great memorable moment. (Though I really don’t recognize the musician, though I recognize the band name he used to be with. I’m terrible with that sort of trivia.)

Please leave me a message so I know you came and visited.
