Our first outing of our Epic Trip was to Harpers Ferry, a place that is underrated in my opinion. It’s an absolute beautiful place where the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers converge. Three trails cross through the town. One of which is the Appalachian trail. History oozes out of the buildings: George Washington, Meriwether Lewis, John Brown, Fredrick Douglas, and Stonewall Jackson are a few men who once walked on the land within the borders of Harpers Ferry.
Slavery was fought against within the borders when John Brown raided the town. A civil rights movement, Niagara Movement, held a conference at a black college, Storer College. One of the members of that movement, W.E.B. Dubois, was one of the founders of NAACP.
We fell in love with the town with its beauty and history.
Stay kind!
