Today was the first day back after spring break. It is also the day before our long and tedious testing period. So I took it “easy” with the students. I helped them with their review packet or I played an academic game with them.
One student was so talkative today. She wanted to talk about what she did during spring break, states we’ve visited, what state I was born in, movies she has seen, and my hair color.
I have taught her for the past 2 years so she’s seen my hair change colors. She asked me why my hair is another color. It’s actually almost my natural color. She told me that my hair has been black, red, and now almost brown. I’m surprised she didn’t talk about my hair being blond at one point or the fact that I have a grey patch of hair on the top of my head.
Usually I would tell her that we don’t have time to discuss this but today I allowed it.
Later she asked me if she could eat lunch with me. I allowed it but when the illness tore through the building, I had to put a stop to it. Now with testing, I need to be with adults when I have time. Anyway she ended up in front of the teacher’s lounge. She looked at me with a shocked look. Rather then motioning her to leave, I waved at her. She just stood there and stared at me.
I didn’t see after that funny moment.
Stay kind!
