I’ve made Chex Mix like this for the past two years. It is super easy this way.
(I copied this post and edited it from my old blog.)
Prep Time:15 min
Start to Finish:15 min
Makes:24 servings (1/2 cup each)
Stars of the Recipe:
- 3 cups Corn Chex® cereal
- 3 cups Rice Chex® cereal
- 3 cups Wheat Chex® cereal
- 1 cup mixed nuts
- 1 cup bite-size pretzels
- 1 cup garlic-flavor bite-size bagel chips or regular-size bagel chips, broken into 1-inch pieces
- 6 tablespoons butter or margarine
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 1/2 teaspoons seasoned salt
- 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Steps:
- In a large microwavable bowl, mix cereals, nuts, pretzels, and bagel chips; set aside.
- In a small microwavable bowl, microwave butter uncovered on High for about 40 seconds or until melted.
- Stir in seasonings.
- Pour over cereal mixture; stir until evenly coated.
- Microwave uncovered on High for 5 to 6 minutes, thoroughly stirring every 2 minutes.
- Spread on paper towels to cool.
- Store in an airtight container.
If you don’t want to make it in the microwave, you can use the oven directions instead.
Steps for the oven:
- Heat oven to 250°F.
- In a large bowl, mix cereals, nuts, pretzels, and bagel chips; set aside.
- In an ungreased large roasting pan, melt butter in the oven.
- Stir in seasonings.
- Gradually stir in the cereal mixture until evenly coated.
- Bake for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.
- Spread on paper towels to cool for about 15 minutes.
- Store in an airtight container.
