When you think of Valentine’s Day, you think of chocolate, wine, and roses.
In honor of Valentine’s Day, I’m going to share my top 8 candies. Many of which is chocolate.
Esther Price Chocolates
In the Dayton, Ohio area, we have a local company called Esther Price. It was started by Esther almost 100 years ago. There is several stores in the area.
Their chocolates are superb. My favorite chocolates are the ones that contain nuts. I usually get the sampler pack which has random different types of chocolates.
If you really want a taste of the Dayton area, get the chocolate covered Mikesell potato chips. I’ll be honest I haven’t tried any of those potato chips.
Winan’s Fine Chocolates and Coffees
Winan’s is another Dayton local business. The flagship store is located about an hour north of where I live.
Mom and I enjoy stopping at the local Winan’s for a latte. She loves the peanut butter white chocolate candies alongside her coffee. I enjoy either the milk chocolate meltaways or the pecan bark. Yum!
Sometimes I’ll get a cherry cordial.
If I stop at a Winan’s, I better get a buckeye for each of the boys.
Sour Gummy Worms
I can chow down on some sour gummy worms especially the ones by Trolli or Fresh Thyme. YUM!
The boys also like sour gummy worms so I have to share them whenever I get myself some.
Gummy Bears
I love the ones from Fresh Thyme. Yum!
Once again I have to share gummy bears with the boys whenever I get myself some.
Peanut Butter Cups
This is a new favorite of mine. I’ve been enjoying this brand’s peanut butter cups ever since I got sick in late November/ early December.
Oh, I get these at Aldi’s.
Yum!
Smarties
Canadian Smarties are like M & M’s but with natural coloring of the shells. I discovered them at Jungle Jim’s and then fell in love with them while we were in Niagara Falls almost 2 years ago.
The only problem is I discovered they have wheat in them so I cannot eat them. (Insert sad face).
M&M’s
I am a purist with M&M’s because I like the plain M&M’s.
Fruit Punch Jolly Ranchers
I can never find this flavor of Jolly Ranchers. I know they still make this flavor because I did find a bag with some fruit punch flavored Jolly Ranchers while I was in Hershey last July.
What are some of your favorite candies?
Have a magical day,
Traci
Okay I can definitely sit down and demolish a bag of candy with you. Great selections!!
Who knew Dayton was such the Capitol of Chocolate? I need to visit!
Wow, such an interesting list of candies and treats! My preferred favorite is Mounds & Hershey Special Dark, but I like M&M’s too. I have fond memories of enjoying sorting them when I was small from least to most, beginning with red (the original red from the 60’s) of which there were only two, then green, yellow, orange, light brown and dark brown. (No blue then and the light brown disappeared later in the 70’s. Then the red disappeared all together because of the dye issue for many years, before it came back as a safer version. My favorite M&M add was the one set to music from “Shaft” in the 70’s and the M&M package was like a big limousine driving down line drawn streets. Shaft was the “in” movie then.
I’m with you on the peanut butter cups! I love that combo in anything from candy to ice cream. Loved reading about your faves! Stopping by from Mama Kat’s.
