The beginning of July was quiet in our house.  Maybe that was because I was sick from the Fourth of July until that Friday.  I was housebound for two of those days because I had a fever.  On the Fourth of July, the only relief I got from my fever was laying in front of a fan. (more…)

The Fourth of July was a bust at our house.  On the third, I went to our town’s annual block party.  It was rainy and chilly during the block party.  Even though I wore jeans and a pullover, I ended up with a fever, cough, and a headache.  I was suppose to be in our Fourth of July parade but opted not to go.  The Wee One decided he didn’t want to walk in the parade if I wasn’t there.  The Imaginative One did walk in the parade because one of his friends came and got him.

  • Taco Hamburger Helper – Secret Recipe Club (July 2016)

    07/11/2016

Today’s my monthly Secret Recipe Club Reveal.  Before I reveal who I was assigned this month, I’m going to have a quick commercial break because it’s a special day at our house.  I don’t want the person whose blog I’m featuring to feel slighted so I’m going to try to keep it quick. (more…)

One thing I am realizing is that even though I’ve shared recipes, I’ve not shared much about the kids or really welcomed you into my kitchen for a meal.

My kids are now eleven and almost thirteen.  Another chapter in my life is beginning, that is a mother of a teenager.  Let me tell you, life has begun to get interesting.  When this blog began in 2010, the boys were 5 and almost 7. (more…)

  • Trail Mix (Easy Snack and DIY)

    07/09/2016

The Imaginative One is now in Boy Scouts and goes on hikes.  One of the hiking trips requires him to carry all of his supplies and food for the weekend.  Trail mix is one of the easiest items to carry.  We make our own so we can customize it to his likes.

  • Cake Mix Donuts – Foodie Extravaganza (July 2016)

    07/06/2016

This month’s theme is donuts.  I have some favorite donut shops around the area – Bill’s Donuts and Abbey’s Donuts are two of our favorite donut shops.  Plus Tim’s (aka Tim Horton’s)

Sometimes though it’s fun to make your own donuts at home.  I have several recipes for donuts on my blog.

  • Mom, What’s For Dinner? – July 2016

    07/04/2016

This month is crazy because we have a road trip, a birthday trip, and a friend visiting from out of town.  When my friend comes to town, we are going out to eat so that she can try some local foods.

I’ve included desserts for each week.  Most of them are the same from last week.  Since I have the two boys, these are desserts that I know they’ll eat.  I may be trying out other desserts/ treats but have not included them on my menu.

    Week 1 – July 4 – 10 (page 2)

    Week 2 – July 11 – 17 (page 3)

    Week 3 – July 18 – 24 (page 4)

    Week 4 – July 25 – 31 (page 5)

Almost every Sunday, we have a family dinner with my mother-in-law.  Sunday night dinners were a tradition even before I was part of the family.

  • Vanilla Wacky Cakes or Cupcakes (Vegan)

    07/02/2016

This cake requires NO eggs and NO dairy.  Say what!  In order for the cake to rise, it requires a chemical reaction between the baking soda and vinegar.

I’m now obsessed with baking these cupcakes/ cake since it’s so easy to put together.

  • Top Posts of June 2016

    07/01/2016

Can you believe it is already July?  I’m going to be back at work in a month.  Once I’m back to work, most of the meals will be easy meals.

I shared a lot of recipes during June.  -The most viewed recipe that was viewed was actually a blog post that I reposted with a picture since I didn’t think I needed pictures during my first years of blogging.  Two of my other most view recipes that were posted in June were from the Secret Recipe Club.
