Near Charleston, there is the largest live oak east of the Mississippi River. The Angel Oak is located on John’s Island. It’s reported to be between 400 and 500 years old.
It’s free to visit but you need to make sure you are following the guidelines especially the one about not touching any of the limbs. They want to make sure the tree continues to survive for future generations to enjoy.
We stopped there the day after Christmas. When we got there, there were people there but it wasn’t too crowded. However by the time we left, the crowd had picked up. I loved the fact I was able to photograph the tree without too many people in the way unlike how it is in the summertime. There are always tons of people milling around because this tree is a must see. During pre-Covid time, you could bring a picnic lunch and eat while enjoying the tree. Now, you have to be masked up, follow the directed signs to the tree, and are not allowed to eat at the picnic tables.
Enjoy my photos of the Angel Oak!

Ever since March when the the stay home orders began, my faith has been renewed. One of the churches I follow had worship afternoons several times during the week to help people with their faith and to keep them feeling connected. This is one of the songs they sang during that worship time.
The song is “Holy Water” by We The Kingdom. My favorite lyric from the song is “Your forgiveness Is like sweet, sweet honey on my lips.”
May you be blessed,

Chocolate Covered Cherries
My grandpa loved his chocolate and coffee. One of his favorite chocolate treats was chocolate covered cherries. This year I was going to buy a few single pieces. However, the day after Christmas I ended up at Walmart. Since the candy was 50% off, I decided to buy myself a box of chocolate covered cherries. Yum! As I eat the chocolates, I will remember where he sat in his family room and all the chocolate he kept by his seat.
TastyKake
When I was born, we lived in eastern Pennsylvania where TastyKakes were popular. My mom would love to get the treats. Her favorite variation of the cakes was the Butterscotch Krimpets. She would have me stop at Speedway – where we would find them where we live – to see if they had the butterscotch krimpets. Today we were visiting various grocery stores to find different generic Dr. Peppers to have a taste testing. One of the places we stopped was Publix – a place I hadn’t been to since 1995. As I was walking around, we saw the TastyKake Butterscotch Krumpets, so we had to buy it. Even though I don’t have my mom around for Christmas, I have a memory of her during this season.

3.5 years ago, I wrote a review about Karen White’s House on Tradd Street series. Romance, Ghosts, and Mystery, Family Secrets, a Mysterious Reporter, and More Ghosts, and A Teenager, More Family Secrets, and a Dollhouse.
We went to Charleston for Christmas week. While there, we visited downtown Charleston and walked around a little bit. One of the places we ended up was at the corner of Meeting and Tradd Street. I had to investigate and find out where the house was located.
I don’t know if this actually 55 Tradd Street because I couldn’t find the house address. It’s either 57 or 55 because on one side is 59 and on the other is 53. I’m going to say it is 55 Tradd Street.
Whether it is 55 Tradd Street or not, it was pretty cool to find a place you’ve read about in a book. It puts a picture in your mind while reading the book.

This year, we decided to take a trip to Folly Beach, SC for Christmas. We stayed at a beach house and got to enjoy the quietness of being in the small town during the off season. During the summer, there are people EVERYWHERE. Even though we see people, there is a lot less people. It’s nice because I can walk on the beach and see very few people. I don’t need to wear a mask because of lack of people. (I only do it on the beach.) It makes me feel as though I’m in pre-Covid times which is GOOD for the soul.
My mother-in-law made us matching Christmas shirts and pj pants. Since it was going to be windy and COLD on Christmas, we did our family photos on Christmas Eve. Oldest is now taller than his 19-year-old cousin – NOT pictured in this post. I didn’t realize Oldest had another growth spurt. Youngest has been the one to get taller during the pandemic. He’s grown at least half foot in the last year. He’s now taller than me.
So from my family to yours, Merry Christmas. As I listened to a Christmas Eve service yesterday, even though we say Jesus is the reason for the season, it’s actually Y’ALL that is the reason for the season.

A few years ago, we had a white Christmas which is unusual for my area of Ohio. So what do meteorologists consider a white Christmas? There must be at least an inch of snow on the ground. Sometimes we get some flurries or a dusting but nothing significant.
In 2004, we had snow and ice on the ground. That Christmas was truly was a white Christmas. I was pregnant with my youngest and my oldest was 17 months old. We couldn’t get out of our driveway/ cul de sac because of how much snow/ ice we got that Christmas. Our neighbors checked on us during the time because they had a 4 wheel drive. I think they got us butter or something like that for us.
I just looked up the amount of snow we got that Christmas. We had 16 inches which is unthinkable for our area.
Hubby still talks about that winter and how we got all the snow.
This year, we escaped our area and went on a socially distance trip to the beach. There is NO snow on the beach. My area was predicted to get snow but not enough to be classified as a white Christmas. The forecast has changed to be cold NOT white. They are supposed to have a high of 21 degrees.
I wish I had photos of that white Christmas. It was a time prior to digital photos being common. Plus being 2 months pregnant and a mother of a toddler, photos of the snow was the least of my worries.
